A Jacquard-Woven Collection
Photography by Pranav Nahata
In An Essay Concerning Human Understanding, John Locke, an empiricist philosopher who theorized the role of observation and experience in acquiring knowledge, suggested that we use our sense of touch and its association with sight to comprehend the world around us. When we are confronted with a familiar object, our brain not only perceives what it looks like, but also remembers what it feels like. This collection of fabrics is a study in visual perception, tapping into the interconnectedness of our sense of sight and touch. Using perception itself as a medium through which these fabrics are woven with, it invites viewers to experience textiles on a visual and tactile level.
